Station Building Café was originally built in 1930 as the Ashino Park Station Building of Tsugaru Railway. As a child, Dazai played on the neighborhood playgrounds near this building. When visiting Tsugaru in 1944 to write a novel, Dazai boarded a Tsugaru Railway train bound for Nakasato in order to meet Take, his former babysitter. In one of his novels, he also wrote about his experience at Ashino Park Station. The station building is now used as a classical-style café reminiscent of the olden days. The café serves special blend coffee prepared by Manchan, a café in Dote-machi in Hirosaki (believed to have been one of Dazai’s favorite spots) and buns stuffed with horse meat, a local product of Kanagi.
